BB and I hauled arse friday after work to Icky to hit the late afternoon bite.We arrived around 6:00, at low tide and headed west.We set up in 18" of water throwing top water and jerk bait.Minutes later BB hooks up with a really hard fighting 24 inch trout. [/img]
We slowly moved on picking up 2 more good trout and a nice red in 45 minutes until we relized that the storm cloud we had been watching in the distance was now almost on us.We packed it up and made our way in to beat the rain and lightning. We checked into our room and headed to Perry where we filled up on some awesome grouper with onions and peppers washed down with cold ..Got up around 5:00 saturday and once again headed west looking for big fish in the shallows. We fished hard all morning but there was no water movement and the water was very chalky resulting in a slow bite.We picked up several good trout from 16 to 18.5 inches and 4 reds from 18.5 to 24 inches. Once again we were run off by bad weather so we loaded up and decided to try ST.Marks.We thought we would be able to get a couple of hours in but once again mother nature would force us in.Not the best trip ever but pretty good considering the elements, can't wait till next time.
Great time once again Keith! Boy that picture of that trout doesnt do it justice. I took the liberty of weighing the fish and my Berkley Grip-N-Weigh came up with this.
I THINK I need a new scale. I weighed a five lb weight and it weighed it at 5.8 lbs. Do the math and the fish weighed 5.6lbs. Heres a couple more pics that can hopefully show how big the fish was. Not our best by any means but Id like to give the fish the credit it deserved! The flip flops in the pic are 13EEE flip flops. Girth on the fish was 13.75".
Thats a 36" sink

BB we tried west and the water was as you said, murky and no bite. So we headed east toward rock island and about a mile out in 7ft or so and picked up a consistent bite of about one trout every 15 min or so. We caught the last 6 trout of our limit between 1pm and 2pm after the tide had started to turn.
