Bait for fish traps?

My wife and I are planning on taking off the 21-25 and renting a place at Shellpoint with a dock and it comes with some fish traps. I was wondering what to put in them so I could hopefully catch some baitfish. Any advice on the best bait for the traps? I'll pick up some live shrimp (my favorite bait) too but I really want to try out something else along the lines of pinfish under a cork.

Cut up squid or ly's will do the trick.

She will think she is large and in charge. Caress her, comfort her, compliment her, dump her bloated, snotty arse in the trap and wait for the rest of the suckers to come along and enter the trap and fall for her charade.

If you use cut bait put it in a small mesh sack like lemons come in at publix...
It will keep the pinfish from eating it up too fast!

we save the rib cages from the fish and use them for bait......works great

My trap is always covered up in those Sailors Choice fish. I have found the SCs to be pretty worthless as livebaits.

So maybe the cat food isn't that good of an idea.

I know that this doesn't have anything to do with traps, but I've been catching bucket loads of pins lately with a sabiki rig under a bobber with a split shot at the bottom to make it straight. I tip as many of those little hooks as I can with tiny pieces of squid and the catch is always on. It's also great fun for the kids and you don't have all the grass laying around the boat like you do with a cast net. Happy fishin' !
