st marks 7/8

Post by procraftwes »

launched at shell island picked up a bag of dead shrimp for pinfish at 6:30 got out to the lighthouse about 6:40 and started fishing for pins then i decided to rig up one of my heavy tackle with one of the dead shrimp.. immidately reeled in a keeper 18" trout.. caught my buddys att and so he threw a shrimp on and did the same then the fishing died for about 10 min then i got a huge hit and set the hook.. about 50 yards out something huge jumps out the water i think its a black tip.. i get it closer and realize im about to catch my first cobia.. my buddy gets the net and we boat him about 35in cobia on the grass flats in front of the lighthouse lol.. we proceeded to celebrate like little girls and i was fishing on a high for the next few hours we caught a few sharks about 3 or 4 short trout and a few rock bass.. then the tide died down and the sailcats came through so we decided to pack up and head home...i ate great last night thanks to the recipe forum.. first time ive had cobia and it was awesome grilled..
