CSB Land-based Shark Report

Headed out late June to fish until the fourth of July recently. Looked for a new hole and had hopes of finding the elusive tiger shark around IP. Had foul weather for yaking and a boatload of weed for several days. The pass was a challenge for me because of the weather and because of the boats that run so shallow throughout that stretch of beach; the jekskis were out in force and contributed to the difficulty. However, no tiger was seen but a few other charmers entertained my baits.



The first shark over seven came from the Cape, a nice warm up to 2008 for me. Gummers can be fun...

Either a nurse or ray I said, whoaaa nelly a big ray
While all sharks are caught and released this ray ended up as bait


Looking for the first decent toothy the 12/0's connected with the years first lemon
Lemon a little over 7' to tail


Looking for the bigger pickup, FISH ON!


9'2" to tail, Lemon A bystander enjoyed holding the rod for me, they were kind enough to drive in thick sand around me hooked up, Thanks!


No bait = no sharks; worked like mad for a small cownose and on my last evening snookered a feisty bull during the fireworks grand finale, July 4

Nice Sharks I use to do that from the east end of SGI with simular sucsess. It's a feat to bring in a large Shark from a landbased position, well done

You violated a local ordinance which states.....if you catch a nasty bastage shark near CSB or IP, you are to haul their nasty azz somewhere else and tell everyone you caught them at SGI

You ever fished for shark at the Sebastian Inlet on the East Coast. That used to be an excellent place to catch shark from the beach. We would chunk our bait out in the stream leaving the inlet and follow it around to the beach. It was rare that we didn't have one on every other drift. Some nights it was every drift.

MudDucker Sebastian Inlet is great from what I hear, never fished it though. There are a few very succesful land-based sharkers there, the most recent catch being a 400 or so pound land-based great hammer; a great area indeed.
