Broken Trolling motor what to do?
my friend caught my trolling motor on a nasty rock and the weight of the boat broke the trolling motor shaft..it works fine for now. i have electrical tape supporting the break but would you reshaft it or just buy a used one? theres a similar one on craigslist for $50.
Re: Broken Trolling motor what to do?
Is this a Minn Kota? If so, give Minn Kota a call. The shaft is supposed to have a lifetime warranty.
What was I supposed to do today?

Re: Broken Trolling motor what to do?
yeah its a minn kota but it came with the boat and i dont have any documentation.. also i read their warranty info and it says it only covers motors bought after july 1, 2000 im pretty sure this one is older than that.
Re: Broken Trolling motor what to do?
Might wanna give them a call any way. Minn Kota parts are cheap. You can probably repair it for very little $$$.

It was... I had a fishing partner that got into a fight with an old crab trap
... I think the crab trap is still sitting in the same spot

I HATE CRAB TRAPS!!!! I don't like to ever think that it got the better of me, but it didn't move and we didn't make it to teh other side, so I guess the blessed crab trap won this time.

You say ya hate Crab Traps..... here's one I found in the middle of the Econfina channel at a low winter tide a few years ago. Thing had barnacles grow'n on it...sharp as all getout to mess with. For that very reason, I now carry a small pair of bolt cutters onboard. (with apologies to procraftwes for contributing to the derail)
