Pflueger

Post by Fish Masterson »

I purchased a Pflueger Trion today on sale, and was wondering if any of you have used this reel? It seems like a smooth reel, but I wasn't sure how it would hold up in salt water? If it won't hold up, I may return it, but it seemed like a good deal, so I thought would give it a shot.
Thanks for any info, Fish Masterson

I HAVE A PFLUEGER AKRON LEVEL WIND REEL I HAVE HAD FOR ABOUT 50 YEARS. I HAVE USED IT IN SALT AND FRESH, GREAT LITTLE REEL, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE DRAG SYSTEM THAT THE LATER REELS HAVE. PFLUEGER EQUIPMENT HAS ALWAYS BEEN TOP OF THE LINE.

Thanks for the input. I hope to try it out this weekend. I can tell you that I just bought a Shimano citica and it feels like it is a lot smoother reel playing with them both, but I have yet to fish with either reel. I guess I will see soon. Again, thanks for your insight.

I have a presidential model, it has corrosion after two saltwater trips and I am pretty good about rinsing my equiptment. It's a smooth reel and although certainly not a top of the line model (around 60 bucks) I am very dissapointed.
