Aug.9th. tourny.

Post by Sea Spot »

Bobby and i left the house around 4:15 saturday .Checked in with John around 5:00 and headed to the ramp.Ran out of econfina at 6:15 in the dark :o .We arrived at our spot at first light and began throwing top water and jerk baits. We caught 2 sharks ,blues, and a remora in the first 10 minutes. Finally we got the strike we were looking for when a 25.5 inch 4.43 lb. trout nailed my plug. She put up an awesome fight stripping drag and trying to stick to the bottom but finally i got her close enough for Bobby to net her. With our kicker fish in the box we set after our reds and 4 good filler fish.We caught 3 reds pretty quick but they were only 20to 22 inches so we moved out deeper. We added an 15.5",a 17.5" and an 18.5 incher to our string. We only needed one more good fish to weigh but it would not be easy.Bobby hooked up with a really good fish and we knew it would be close .Sure enough 20and a 1/4 inches.Wow so close. We moved several more time looking for number five with no luck.We only had 10 minutes left to fish when we ran out to 4.5 ft. of water and just started chunking.I wasn't very optimistic of our chances seeing that we hadn't got it done all day.I heard Bobby say good fish and started for the net thinking what's the odds of it being a legal fish.I scoop it up and anxiously await the measurement.Bobby lays her down and bam, there it is 19 and 3/4 inches .After several high fives we pack it up and head in.We didn't catch alot of fish but were able to catch enough to win big fish and overall weight.Big Trout Bobby's new nickname is Clutch. Thanks to John and everyone who makes our tournaments possible.Food was good. :lick: .Good to see all of you and look forward to next month.
