Jackson- 8-25

Post by bman »

Well I couldn't stand to wait and see... Had to go check out Jackson.
I took my buddy Manning out for his first Kayak trip- first we rescued a turtle from the road and let it go at the lake.

There is loads of water back in the lake- Jet skiers out there already!
Can you see the rooster tail?
Image
Water was about a foot over the pads in some areas.
Image
Manning is 10 and did great on the water.
Image
Main reason to go was see the water and let Manning experience kayaking.
But I did catch a few bass-

Good to see the water back up..wonder how long it will last.

a hook  I was fishing a jerk bait, no weight.

haven't checked out Crowder or Sunset yet but I think it will have to go up a bit more before the paved ramps have water...
There was one bass boat on the lake.

Went out again yesterday. The water has come up about 6". Bman, did you put in at Millers?? Saw two yellow yak's over that direction. I think that "bass boat" was me, however, not a bass boat...... just a G3. ;-) It really is neat to get out there and cruise around. The guy in the jet ski was launching the same time I was. His sole purpose was to put in so that, for the first time in years he could ride it over to "Shuckers" and grab a beer.

I hear that they are closing down Hwy 90 West. The river is about to crest over the bridge.

I thought G3's were a glorified john boat.

We must have all had the same idea yesterday. I had drove down to Miller's to check the water and drove past a Jet Skier and a G3 on the way out. Glad you were able to get out there. Looks a lot more like it's suppose to! The water looked to be about 20-30 yards up the bank (at the landing) from where it was last time I was down there. What would you guys say?

That was us in the Yellow Kayaks- my green one had a colony of ants take up in is during the storm :o

Could not believe the air boats and the Jet Ski guy... I had forgotten how it used to be out there on the weekends.

Hey RiverRunner, your pics didn't show up (at least for me).

It's good to see some water finally back in the lake!

You thought right. But if you put a 60hp on the back of a Jonboat, you could easily be mistaken for a bass boat. :-D

Easily 20 to 30yrds. I checked some depths in various parts of the lake : Lime sink 22', Church's Cove 9', the rest of the lake varies from 1' to 5'. Also the landing slopes very gradually, that is to say that you have to back a good ways back to launch. Had to keep a close eye water level when backing it down.
