So from now on all the catfish I catch are hard-spined redfish, or spiny redfish.

Ladyfish are largemouth trout.

:( Two years ago I visited my daughter in Nashville. We dined at a rather expensive upscale restaurant. The menu listed broiled redfish. I ordered it just to see. It was not redfish as we know it. It seemed to be more of the beeline snapper species.
After our plates were served I told the waitress we are from Florida and redfish is a protected species not to be served commercially. She never returned to our table.
For any price the fish was not that good.

Florida has laws against harvesting redfish commercially, but not about serving redfish caught in other states. There is a swank place over in Destin that has redfish on the menu.

The Coastal restaurant in Panacea used to serve AYCE redfish as one of their specials. Also, we ate a place in NO,LA called the Redfish Grill located in the French Quarter. Nice place......redfish dinner...

I come to find that I'm better off catching one myself and grilling or frying it to my liking :lick:

I'm with you, I'd rather catch and cook my own redfish.I sure didn't know restaurants are still serving it, though :o .
