Enconfina 9/27

Post by sundown »

Had the boat in the water before 7 this morning, launching on low tide...couple boats ahead of us that looked like they were heading for deep water.
Jay and I ran out to about 16 ft and dropped some stretches and started trolling toward Dog Ballard and some marked rockpiles.Figured we'd do that till the tide turned and then go up some creeks..
First hit was a cobia bout 28"(naturally) released..then a short black bass..then a 21" gag that we measured carefully..All released..
About that time I talked to a famous local fisherman on the radio that said he'd just caught a 24" gag on a zebco 33..you got to be good to do that !
We moved back in around 11 and got in a creek..wind was picking up and good water movement..some grass but not so bad you couldn't fish in it..
Jay picked up a nice red the first five minutes..This was to be the only red too ! We got some strikes and had some follow the bait but nothing in the boat..Did get two nice trout and a big mackeral ..That was the ball game !
Talked to a couple parties that were loading bout the time we were..nobody had done much....
It was a good day though...good company, didnt tear nothing up..beat cutting this hayfield of a lawn! Do that Monday ! :-D

Tom, it wasn't too bad..not a lot of grass. Probably see a firetiger stretch coming up 4-5'. Don't know how that translates for diving though.

Sundown, what about the water in the river. Does it still look like a Dr. Pepper?
