HA HA!!. Ran east to the Rock Garden and stayed closer to shore in about 3.5 foot on the rising tide. Not much moving, with the water still stained to a good sweet tea color. the wife struck first with a huge pinfish, and nothing else hitting so we moved closer inshore and set up another drift as the wind was still pushing us out. Started seeing rocks and structure in the water, this seemed to be the key. Layed a Rapala stick bait across a sand bar, and BOOM!!
the grouper took the stick bait in tail first. this was a first for me as this was my first inshore Grouper.

as we moved back for a second pass, nothing hit. But with the Grouper my First Mate sparked an interest back to fishing over the Nintendo DS. after a couple more passes, I hear those words that all love to hear "FISH ON" or in her words "I GOT A FISH". looking and fearing that with all the rocks that it was just a snag after losing that $7 stick bait to a rock, i see the rod bending on her down to the water. She like any champ in the fight of her life, handles that rod like a pro. the fish takes a run past me, and i grab the net. Low and behold the First mate has her first Red on the line. Netted and boated she got the first red she has caught.

finally just for a shot by herself after getting over not wanting to hold it.

she has now caught about 8 kinds of fish and said the Cobia is next. Look out guys, we may have a new team for next years tournaments. God has blessed us with this ability to take the kids out, and I cannot describe the joy in the eyes and sounds that are made when a child has one that tug and knows there is something on the other end of the line. Beats computer games any day.
I just thank the Good Lord above for all he has blessed us with in this life, and look forward to a much more active year with BBF and entertaining joining up to share more and more with all of you. this could be the last trip of the year out, but looking forward to heading to Cabo next month and head out for a day of deep water fishing. Will report when upon the return.
Have a blessed and safe time to each and every one of you. And thanks to all of you who post that helps us newer fishermen get more out of each trip.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU and BBF
