St. Marks 10/30/08

Post by tin can »

Put in at The Fort about 0930 and ran east. Wanted to ride the tide in and chase reds. The tide came in, but it was slow getting in. Finally got to where I wanted to be about 2:30 this afternoon. When I got there it was on. I caught 11 or 12 nice upper slot reds in about an hour. Then, like a light switch, it turned off. Fished until 5:30 without another bite.

The wind blew out of the northeast all day. Most of the time it was tolerable. There was the occasional gust, but most of the day it was probably around 10 mph. What did surprise me is the water temp has already dropped into the low 50's.

I'll take an hour of fast and furious any time.
What was I supposed to do today?

Great day on the water. I would take that over any day at the office....

Thanks for report. I spent all my money coming down 3 weeks too early. As Ike said "I shall return!"

No holes in the boat, but the trolling motor is beginning to look like Birddog has been using it. :-D

Nice report John. Must have been pretty dry if the Gator-Trax couldn't get there.
