I had the perfect day!!!!!

Post by Fish Masterson »

I was on fire, I didn't miss a fish all day! Started out the day kinda late, so I figured I would give Ole Ickneefina a try since I haven't been out there in a while. The water was smooth as glass when I put in, around 10'ish, so I told myself that I would just head east until I found some clear water and start reelin'em in. That was where things started to go wrong! As soon as I cleared the mouth and pointed her east, the motor started sputterin. Well being the genious that I am, there was only one logical thing to do, Toe-nail'er to the floor and hope that I make it back.
After runnin to within 6 or 7 miles of keaton and still no sign of the water clearin up, I started thinking that it would be less than ideal to get caught way over here if it starts to get rough. At that point I just cut a big U-turn and started headin back. I made it back to rock island and decided it was time to fish, since I had already killed over an hour and a half a tank of gas.
Well to make a long story short, the reason that I didn't miss a fish all day was on account of me not actually having a bite all day. I think that this is the first time I have had a "perfect skunk" and hopefully it will be the last.
Anyhow, the boat made it back in with no more sputterin, and so I guess "nothing lost nothing gained" will be my motto for the rest of the day. :(

P.S. If any of you feel sorry for me and want to give me a few pointers, I'm all ears

fish masterson, well it was better than mowing lawns. :)

I wouldn,t presume to give you any tips.
But, if its any consolation, reading the reports from that area, nobody has been catching much.

Fish, I've been so excited about the inshore reports I've read lately that I went to fresh water today. At least when I go to fresh water I know it's going to be tough going in. :-?
What was I supposed to do today?

Well, know Ft Walton is a ways off, but last year, I tore the trout and redfish up, couldn't go wrong, this year, I don't know, too much rain, too much fresh water, staining of the water, combination of all those things, nothing works...went to Big Sabine Point today, near Pensacola area, nothing, I used everything but live bait, and for me that is normal, yet only one trout, small at that...funny thing is, and it really isn't funny, but the water seems strange, just different...maybe too much rain in the water, and not enough salt...lots of mullet, big and small, but not the normal bait fish...any ideals??

FishMasterson,
Just do what I plan to do and wait til September and maybe the water will be clearer, or at least cooler. I agree, it has been pretty bad out there lately. It's fun to go out, but I like to catch something. It takes us 2 hrs. drive just to get there.
