Wandering to the Warrior
Waited forever and my BIL finally shows up 90 minutes late & were off. We drove in lite rain on the way down. Saw a real nice mess at the dock he told me just where to go and what to throw so I went the other way and tossed something else.
Frankie got a great flounder & I got a FAT trout over twenty. Fooled around a while longer and headed the other way. We tried a couple of creeks 1st was redsville. Had a few minutes left and in 45 min out in front of a creek on a bar we went to town.
Two Reds on ice and a few throw backs I caught five reds in ten minutes and got ballsy and put a keeper back hoping to trade up & really did trade up big time, then he got another flounder and a quick mess of trout 17 to 19 plus the one over 20 totaled eight trout two each flounder & reds most were caught on new penny big trout on silver & black bite a bait had a cork and jig taken from me quick fun!
Same as the last trip my guest got to box a fish or two while I put on a clinic in how fat Trout and Redfish are caught. I caught most of the fish on Gulp & Cork with a short leader. White was Ok but New Penny was the ticket the guys with the cooler full said they went old school white with the pink curley tail for you guy's that hate to pay for the gulps. Others caught them on hard baits like mirror lures and other sink / jerk lures and at Wilson's he said the top water bite had been good.

Good trip

Could have got out an hour or more earlier plenty of water to much and if the outgoing had started 1/2 earlier we would have had a lot more fun.Jumptrout51 wrote:How did you ever get out of the Warrior on that tide?

The guy at the ramp told me to go the other way but I went to where you and I fished with Chug Bug last year at Christmas thats where we got the Flounder and the fattest widest thickest 24" Trout I have ever seen it looked like a dandy Salmon or Steelhead it was just freakish huge.Redbelly wrote:Sounds like the Warrior is still a sho' nuff fishing hole!![]()
But it seemed like they just wern't in there like last year and only a three to four hour trip I had to make it count and I took off to head the other way.
Lots of folks were getting them in 4 - 5' of water I was comitted to just the creek mouths & to the 1st bend only.
The guys on outside bars seemed to do pretty good.
