Ochlocknee Bay 11/29

Post by grasscarp »

Roadtrip and I made another one of our "fish everything possible in one day" trips. We started off in the mouth of the river and not much happening. Fished several holes but we dont have the sit it out and wait attitude so we moved out to the bars. I think there are fish there almost all the time if you can handle the constant pounding from the wind. We caught several trout and sheephead but only one keeper red. So having very little patience we moved agian. Headed up Chaires creek to a hole that i caught fish out of a few weeks ago but this time came up empty except a couple of trout. It looked like it was going to rain and we didnt want to get anybody wet we headed out of Chaires and watched that feasco of a Georgia game and part of the Auburn beating. Headed back out to the bars and caught several more trout and still came up short on the redfish.
If you want to know how to captain a boat out of Chaires, Roadtrip is giving lessons. He will show you the wide open in a 24 foot bay boat technique :o
Sorry for not having any pictures we dont have the patience for all that either maybe next time.

I'm glad to hear that fish were not caught at O river mouth because thats about the only place I didn't fish this past week. Sorry to hear your bad luck, but now I'm glad I didn't visit there. Better luck next time.

Do you catch big reds in the river? I jsut feel like the bigger ones would be out on those bars.
