gruper diggin - 12/06

Post by sand flea »

The baby daughter (28) wanted to go diggin for grupers so I ask a friend from work that had been wanting to go and come to find out it was her birthday(I was not gonna ask a lady how young she was gonna be). Lined up everything for Saturday and left Cairo at 5:15, quick stop by Wally world for b'day girl some lisence and we are at the fort by 7 am. Headed out to explore some numbers a friend had told me about. Got close so we trolled a red-head and a blu-holo stretch. Bout 10 mins. into our troll both rods double then come back upright. Bottom was super so I needed no more to convince me to anchor. Got anchored close to vacintity of my bouy. All 3 rods down, 3 fish up , all 3 are legal size red snapper(throw backs of course), we caught fish off this hole all morning but no more snappers. Tally from the hole and day basically, caught no more keepers rest of the day:
3 snappers 18"-19"
5 groupers 24 1/2"-26"
15 short groupers(7 of those 15"-16" reds)
Pinkmouths
Bait of the day was pinkmouth fillets. Did not catch the 1st grouper on a sardine or squid.
