Radio Question

Post by RodBow »

I installed the new Galaxy® 5400-XT antenna yesterday I got from redfin and was able to talk to SeaTow in Panacea from the house. Question - Do they have super charged distance on their VHF or was it just a quirk for them to pick me up from southside Tally?
If anyone is putzing around their boat today wants to radio check today let me know.

Thanks

SeaTow has a antennae on a 300 foot tower. They have the same capabilities to talk and receive as the Coast Guard. SeaTow also has franchises for freshwater lakes in the area, therefore they have to be able to hear and respond accordingly. They also do some sort of interface booster through the internet.

At least that is pretty close to what Captain Singletary explained to me one day.

No matter....SEATOW is your buddy.

They have their equipment tied into Nextel also so Joel could be in Jacksonville and still respond with his Nextel to a radio check or distress call.
