St George 12-27-08

Post by jsuber »

Made a trip over to St George Island today in the Kayak to catch a big Redfish and caught two 27's as the tide was dropping out to -0.6 this morning. Picked up a couple more smaller ones and left to find some Trout. Caught one 27" Red on a topwater Bone and Chrome and the rest on Capt Mike Spoon in Pink. The water was fairly tainted and I blindcasted behind Mullet that scared into action by the Redfish moving around. Best I could do in 20 mph winds on a negative tide. No moon at night helps the feeding frenzys in the mornings.

Donkey Shorn! I put that piece o timber on the bow. Comes in very handy. I lift the Red with my boca and support it by the tail, lay it on the lumber, it settles down and relaxes. I take the picture, remove the hook, and slide him into the water off the lumber. No touchee, no feelee. Just trying to minimize my removing of the slimy stuff off the big fellar.
