Fishing guests

Post by SeaNile »

Hey guys, I'm new to this site and the forum. I have been reading it quite a bit and it looks like you have fun!!

I am a fishaholic, I'm mostly hooked on grouper!! :lick: I love a good fish fight, and if I could fish everyday..... I would  !! I have a 28ft carver santa cruz sport fisher and love to get out just about every weekend...

Now really... the reason for my post is quite simple. I would like to be able to meet other people that like to do the same. I have fun getting out there, but my delima is that finding people to actually take the time to go is ludicrous!! Everyone would like to go, but the day before the trip they cancel! :(

My wife said that I could get out more if I could find some willing people to help pitch in for the expenses. (Like that would stop me  ) I will admit that a 700.00 a month marina bill does take a chunk out of the budget, but I'm just curious if anyone who is an avid fisher and diver would like to befriend me, and do some serious offshore recreation!! I have been getting out for alittle over a year, and I have had no takers from friends and relatives. Go figure.

Is it really that hard to find people that like to fish all the time??

WELCOME Seanile  I just imagine that you will find yourself with several new best friends in no time  My brother Capt. Mitch Pope lives over in St. Marks, has the Custom Charters flats fishing gig going there :D That sounds like one sweet ride ya got and I may be one of your ship mates in the future 8) I have a flats boat myself and have done very little Groupa digging, but have enjoyed the few times I've been out :D Tight lines and screemin drags

Hey Seanile. Welcome aboard. I, like most people on this site, eat, sleep, and dream fishing. Like weavans, I have a flats boat that won't go to deep water. I have little experience off shore and might be a hamper on the boat, but would love to go sometime. I kind of had the same problem as you, I've set up three offshore trips from this site, one didn't show at the boat ramp, and two cancelled a couple days before the trip. :x Let me know next time you need a deck hand.

If this weekend smartins up, I'll be headed out!! :D No experience needed. :D

I do need to warn you however that I'm not the expert myself. But I've been able to catch fish. I've hauled in many 28-30" grouper, some 24" spanish mak, and even 38" King...... I don't know if that's good or not... But I'm still looking for that sweet spot.

Can't make it this weekend. Already promised my wife we would go to Spring Warrior this weekend to look for Reds. Because of a minor injury while fishing, I've been out of the boat for about six weeks. Getting stitches out Friday, so I'm back in business this weekend. Maybe I can hook up with you the following weekend if your going. I'll be off three days then, and plan to fish all three days. Weather permitting of course.

See there Seanile. All kind of folks chomping at the bit to go offshore. I'm surprised you'd have trouble finding someone to go with you. Keeping Sea fox's comment in mind about friends he didn't know he had. Folks with offshore boats usually have a waiting list for guest. So far I have not made it to the top of anyone's list yet. So I just keep beating the shore for Trout and Reds to scratch the fishing itch.
Do you live in St. Marks? Do you know Miss Joy at Bo Lynns Grocery? She's was my foster Mother in my last years of High School.

Well guys, this is great!! To answer some questions. I don't live in St. Marks. I live near wakulla springs.

Pjones, I don't get out during the week, but would love to do some offshore night fishing with excellent weather conditions. Your welcome to come along saturday. Thats my next scheduled departure.

CSmarine, I don't know Miss Joy, I've been introduced to a person with that name before, but don't know if this would be the same person. I've lived in this area since 1985, so I've crossed alot of paths. Also, let me know when you would like to go. My list isn't that long yet

Anyway, I want to get out saturday. Any takers?? Hopefully the weather will turn out halfway decent.

Send me an email if your interested. But be forwarned. I am a true sailor, and U.S. Navy certified :D

Hey Seanile, you say your a "true Sailor and Navy certified" Not sure what that means, but I'm a true Marine and after over 30 years with the Marine Corps, I'd expect I'm cerified in something. So if you have a need to make a "hot" landing on the beach at the lighthouse or somewhere in the Big Bend, I'm your man. Miss Joy runs the only grocery store in St. Marks. Across the road from Poseys.

DS, my certfications won't be much of use off the base though. Unless someone has a position open for a Small Arms Instructor, or an Explosive and Ordanance Expert. Not much call for those certifications in the Big Bend Area since they outlawed fishing with dynamite at the Aucilla River. Navy Corpmen that know me swear I'm certifiable, but not much call for folks certified as insane either. :o

Yes, certified true and blue. Spent the first six years of my "adulthood" "haze gray and underway". No regrets, loved every bit of it. Although I didn't realize that when I was younger.

I'll keep that in mind.... I'm going to make a Panama City Beach run before to long, and do one of those "hot" landings. You know,........ some fishing and diving..... Maybe cruise to Carrabelle and visit Wet Willie's if it's still there :D

But, for the most part, if your goin' fishin' with me, you'll just have to put up with a little cussin', a 12 pk. in the cooler, and a long long day of fishing. That's the life for me. Oh and the worst habit is, I might light up a smoke.

That's what I meant by being a "Sailor" U.S. Navy certified. We were all disgusting. Even have a tattoo.. . Although I try to be as sociable and presentable as possible, and be as courteous to other people as I can, and do my best to get ahead in life, when your on my boat, everyone is encouraged to be themselves. So, what I was getting at, is that I would hope I could be myself too .... "A Sailor"

You got me going on that one, I hope that doesn't ruin my image
