Carrabelle 1-19-09

Post by caseycook »

FlounderPounder and I met at Advantage Marine this morning for a quick fishing trip. Launched the boat around 8:20 a.m. and ran to a nice grass flat. We started the morning throwing soft plastics. We fished in location 1 for about 30 minutes with nothing and were in the process of moving out of the shallows when we spooked a rather large school of nice redfish. We quickly cut off the big motor, grabbed rods and fired our baits into the school. We instantly hooked up - boom shaka laka.

We lost the school during the fight and had to search to find them the next time. We found them twice more in the same location, but couldn't get them to bite. The fish were basically sitting still and you had to run over them with the big motor to get them to move.

The wind kicked up around 11 a.m. making sight fishing all but impossible. We continued fishing and saw quite a few fish, but couldn't get them to bite. The water temperature was 50 degrees when we started and 53 when we left at 12:45 p.m. We caught our fish in less than 2' of water over grass / sand.

Liam, enjoyed it buddy, let's do it again soon. Next time we'll go out of the Ecky. :D

Ain't that just special. I thought you were allergic to sub 50 degree weather?
Not a bad morning at all guys, even if I was working.

Nice work guys...appreicate the report.

The real question though, what is the trick for being able to fish on a Monday?
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
