I have had my best success on the 3/8 oz. single hook weedless with a white twin tail trailer.

I've caught reds (and also trout up to 4 pounds) on the chartreuse, silver and hammered copper, but the pink is tops, by far. That's also the favorite color of the inventor, Capt. Mike Hakala. The single hook stays clear in shallow water, although it does help to bend the wire weed guard out beyond the hook point every so often to deflect grass.

The larger blade version 3/8-oz. actually planes in the water, more so than the 1/4-oz. But in the winter months when the reds are focusing on smaller baits, I switch over to the 1/4 spoons.

I've never dressed any CM spoons with trailers--No need. I do modify mine by adding a small ball-bearing swivel, tho. Helps to reduce line twist. Retrieve them slow in a rhythmic cadence so they wobble just off the bottom.

3/8th oz. chartreuse or pink....single hook which ain't really weedless....It will gather grass like a hayrake...least for me..

1/4 oz weedless single hook no trailer. I try to keep my lures simple, otherwise it decreases the distance cast when you add trailers or skirts. A single hook ususally connects around the jaw and makes for easy release. It has a split ring on it and if you reel it the right speed which is keeping it off the bottom, it will not twist your line, unless you don't keep an eye on your split ring and let the split ring get tangle on your line. I use them in 4 inches of water and up.

Single hook pink 3/8 oz with small 35lb Spro barrell swivel attached to the split ring......No attachments as far as grubs or skirts. Single hook does not seem to gather as much crap as the treble
