Tornado in Cairo

Post by Bow'd Up »

Hope everyone faired throught the weather last night. I got a call at 1:38 this morning from my brother in law asking were we ok. I replied heck yea...sleeping like a baby...why do you ask. He told me that a tornado had been reported in our area and he was making sure that we had not been hit. I got out this morning to check out the damage in our community and sure enough, bout 1/2 mile north of us a twister touched down turning over a tractor trailer, knocked down several big grain silos, demolished a dairy, uprooted a heap of trees, turned over a horse trailer and picked a single wide mobile home up and sat it back down in a differet part of the yard :o Folks in Thomasville on Metcalf road got hit pretty hard as well demolishing several homes. BB was at the cabin just south of me and he faired ok....Hope everyone is ok this morning :smt006

NOT SO GOOD MORNIN, THE TORNADO HIT DOWN ABOUT 200 YRDS SOUTH OF OUR PLACE HERE IN CAIRO. IT CUT A SWATH ABOUT 100 YRDS. WIDE AND DID A LOT OF DAMAGE TO MANY MOBILE HOMES, SEVERAL HOMES, AND CUT A SEMI TRAILER IN TWO PIECES DOWN WHERE WORLEYS BAR B-Q USE TO BE. WE DID NOT GET ANY DAMAGE TO OUR BUILDINGS BUT HAD A FEW LIMBS BREAK OFF OF TREES DOWN IN THE WOODS BEHIND THE HOUSE. I DO NOT KNOW IF ANYONE WAS INJURED OR NOT BUT THERE IS A LOT OF DAMAGE.

Had a pine branch come through the bedroom roof and cut the power line at about 0200 in Thomasville. Has not been a fun night. Finally got a tarp over it but still no power (at work right now). Called Thomasville Ut. and apparently I am not the only one...they are looking to get to me in the next 2-3 days :( Guess it'll be cold showers for a while!! On the bright side...the boat is uninjured :))

I live on Midway road just past Lewis. Rode Lewis out to 93S and headed up toward Worleys. I hate it for the guy that parked that reefer trailer there. Also that dairy behind Worleys throught the woods is a mess

Here are a few pictures my brother took with his Blackberry this morning. The first one is of my old house on Metcalf Rd. in T-ville. The second is the house next door.

Dang, glad everyone is okay. The storm woke me up and I came and listened to the weather on TV. Said there was a tornado spotted up by Moody AFB, but thank goodness didn't come our way.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
