Best Bass bite of the year

Post by Ken K »

yesterday evening at the pond. Flipped a worm up under the overhanging branches and caught the biggest Bass to come out of this pond in 20 years.....about 2 1/2 pounds. Caught several more small ones on Merthiolate trick worms and got a few on a frog colored Baby Spook.

Did not eat it. This pond (in the garden) is only two acres. I figure I will probably kill all the Bass it can stand, accidently. I am trying to manage it so that I will have some truly big bass in a few years.

Plenty of bream to eat though.

With some species of fish, it seems you have to keep the numbers down, or you end up with lots of stunted fish.
Other species seem to find their own levels and prosper accordingly.

I suppose it pays to know what you are doing.
