Re: Boat takeing on water out east of Anky
I'm the culprit....took a steel rod thru the hull....called SEATOW and they responded with local Capt. Gary Mears....I had also called my
neighbor Tommy Highnote and he got there just ahead of Gary and towed me in after we put several life jackets under the motor.
I'll post the numbers of the steel rod later and believe me they are accurate...I entered them while impaled on the rod! Many thanks to all
who assisted! A special thanks to the two guys who stopped and pulled me off the rod so I could get to the shoreline. A very scary afternoon for sure!

I think an engine shaft or something similar was what came thru the hull!
Here are the exact numbers

Got it. I appreciate you posting the numbers. Glad your safe.
How's bad is the boat? What's it gonna take to repair the hull?

Sure appreciate the concern...a nice afternoon on water can go south in a hurry with a piece of steel sticking thru the hull!
I'm not sure about repair yet....the hole is about 3/4 fist size all the way through and there is buckling around the hole for several inches on the inside.
The obstruction punched through the kelvar bottom layer and nearly 4" of bottom. I'm checking with some folks now on possible repairs.
Thankfully the new engine did not get dunked although it was very close. Without all the life jackets under it while towing I'm sure it would have gone
down and the great guys waiting at the ramp held the transom up until we could get it on the trailer. I had just installed a new 750 pump and it kept water level about neutral (2/3 of boat filled with water) it seemed. I'm thinking seriously about adding some type flotation pods onto the back of the boat.

Floatation pods will definitely help. I installed 2, 1500 GPH bilge pumps in my boat. My biggest worry is taking on water.
