I noticed the boat on Monday. Sorry I cannot add any particulars. I do recall thinking that it looked like a nice rig.

It belongs to Jimmy Nix, I think. He is the MGR there. It is a custom built 24-25 foot CC with a Merc 200 on it. I understand that it is a custom-built copy of an old Mako hull. I think it has full electronics. It is on a new Aluminum Trailer. I think he wants $10,500 for it. I had told some guys from Valdosta about it. I don't know if they ever looked at it or not.
I think his number at work is 229-246-4000. If I get a chance, I'll run by there today and look at it. I have not seen the boat up close, only pictures. He said is is garage kept 100% of the time, but he doesn't fish it because his brother-in-law now owns a 42 foot sportfisher that is kept at Shields in St. Marks.

Custom 24' like a Mako? I wonder if it is one of those "Buddy T" boats built over in Darien (I think)? I have heard they are good boats.

I believe the boat was built in Florida - I just don't rmemeber by who. I will try to find out. When he ordered the custon built trailer a few months ago, the guy that built the trailer (in FL) was familiar with the boats and the builder, so he did not have to take it down for measurements.

OK - new info - The boat is a 24 foot Freeland custom built mako copy.It has full electronics, a 200 HP merc with less than 200 hours, and a new aluminum tandem axle trailer. Price is $10,500. Call Jimmy Nix at 229-246-8990 or e-mail at jnix@starband.net. Boat is currently sitting at Florida Rock Truck terminal on HWY 27 south of Bainbridge. Boat has otherwise been garage kept.

I've never owned a Merc but had 2 Mariners that weren't worth the metal they were made of.

Mercury? No. Some of the brand new ones are reported to be allright, but they didn't get the name "black anchors" for nothing.

My mechanic says:

"If you want to go some of time, buy a Johnson, if you want to go fast every now and then, buy a Mercury, if you want to go all of the time, buy a Yamaha".

What 200 mercury is it? Is it carburated, EFI, or Optimax. I have a 1997 200 carburated that has never had the first problem.
What was I supposed to do today?
