St. Marks 5/11

Post by FinsNGrins »

Got to the Light House early surprised to see a few people beat me there. Went up the river with Cabo 70 in hand after rumors of poon being jumped last week. North wind around 3 was really a WNW at 10. No sign of rolling fish after a good drift. Then proceeded to east flats on a somewhat low outgoing tide throwing a orange/black/gold Spook Jr in 8-14" of water. Had several big blows and a lot of misses. Managed to land a 17" trout for the cooler. Caught a few more shorts.
I then stumbled upon a small school of reds that wouldn't leave the area. I landed one, let it go. Hooked another, then had another red eat the plug out its mouth. Lost both of those. Then hooked another, and attempted a double with a softplastic jerkshad I had on my 2500 to no avail. The hooked fish shook the plug in the grass. :smt005 Fun solo trip.

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
