Panacea 5/30

Post by strictlydiesel86 »

Hadnt been out fishing for awhile so i decided to try a new area. went out panacea w/ some problems w/ getting the motor to run wide open so i kept it pretty close. fished the sand flats @ the mouth of the inlet. had a great day of sight fishing out there. nothing keeper but i hooked into 2 small rays to about 5lb. picked up a puffer, and a small bonnet head shark. then sighted a monster ray cruising the flat so i cast to him and had the best fight all day. i couldnt really do much about getting him into the boat as i was only using 10lb leader and he broke off after about 10mins. man was that a fun fight and an adrenaline rush! hoping to get out there again once i get the engine working properly.

Sounds like you had a good day on the water. Good luck getting the motor working smoothly.

I hear ya on the big rays. My son hooked a big un out of St. Mark's one day and fought it for about 20 minutes. Would get it to the boat and off it would go. Ended up breaking a nice fishing pole.
