Noticed that everytime we started catching fish, a large school, 25-30 maybe more, of blacktip sharks in the 2-4' range would appear and shut the bite down. We hooked several and lost a few rigs too. We would move off to another spot just to have the same thing happen. Needless to say, nobody wanted to get in the water.
The highlight of the day was when the flatline went "off" with a freelined pinfish and the result was an explosive Kingfish run, which ended with what appeared to be about a 40#er skyrocketing out of the water about 50' behind the boat.
Of course, he came down on the line and that was the end. Also had 3 or 4 Dolphin in the 10-15# range show up at the stern and we kept them with us for about 15 min while we threw everything in the tackle box at them, but with no luck.
The bottom bite came on live pinfish and spanish sardines. Conditions were great, although a liitle HOT in the afternoon, with maybe a 5kt wind and 1ft sea. Surface water temp was between 81.5 and 83 and although the water was blue it was not as clear as usual, with surface vis down to about 20 ft.
Cuda"B" ran great and we were back at the dock by 5:30!
