Her first KY Bass

Post by Good Times »

I took the kids fishing last Friday for their first time on Lake Barkley here in KY. It was a perfect day. Bluebird skies, temps in the mid 70's, and it was a little windy. We hit the first hole and Charlie jump in the back of the boat while Elizabeth and I took the front. It took us about 3 minutes to hook our first fish and for Elizabeth to put him in the boat. We snapped the picture below and put the fish back. Knowing we were about to get in them, I stepped on the trolling motor pedal and.......nothing. Switched the battery to see what was up and it worked for about two more minutes. Pulled the motor up and could hear the motor "crackling" when I put the power to it. We spent the rest of the morning letting the wind push us across bays and we got a lot of practice in. We made the best of it and had a blast. Elizabeth even learned to use a spinning outfit. It took her about three casts to get it down cold. Charlie held his own by backing his sister up with some solid instruction as well. Team Good Times is looking stronger by the minute! We stayed until Ms. Bitty Bladder couldn't take it anymore and headed for the hill. Can't wait to take them again.

This should be included in the Tips and Tricks section.

I can hear it later though, "Hey man, this fish tastes a little funny."

"Yep, it's a yellow bass." :D
