Got a weekend trip to Sawgrass planned- not a big golfer so looking for fishing spots.
I can take the Kayak or the skiff.
Any recommendations?

Bman,
There are some good places not far from Sawgrass. The ICW near there is but a ditch, but south of the palm valley bridge are some nice creeks that hold trout and reds, and the ICW becomes much broader and more user friendly. A kayak will be well suited for that. Watch the tides and most fish around the either side of the high. I think you can put in at the Palm Valley bridge. Farther south there is access to the Guana lake preserve. You can put in at the dam and fish on the upside in brackish, or downside in salt. Access to Guana which is a state park, is on A1A south of Sawgrass.
Be careful around the ICW ditch. Narrow and dangerous at times, especally with many folks celebrating the fourth with a fifth.

You can put in at the Bridge at Beach Blvd. If I was going to put in there I would use the skiff. If you wanted to use the Kayak then you might want to try J. Turner Butler Blvd.If I was going to be in town this weekend I'd go with you. Tight lines

HEY BARRY, GUANO WOULD BE GREAT IN A KAYAK, THE LAST TIME I FISHED THERE WE DID GREAT WITH DEVIL HORSES, SILVER AND BLUE, CAUGHT 9 REDS AND 21 TROUT, ALL ON TOP WATER. IT WAS IN MARCH AND WAS NOT TOO HOT. I DO NOT KNOW HOW IT WOULD BE IN THE HEAT LIKE WE HAVE BEEN HAVING.

Guana is a pretty neat place to try. The in-laws have a place not far from there.

Sounds like Guana is it... Along with some Bass action in the resort.
