NFGFC July Tournament Results

Post by caseycook »

Sorry for not posting these sooner; my house got struck by lightning two weeks ago and the computer got fried...had to wait to use the work computer.

We had a great turnout for our July tournament - 21 boats braved the heat and showed up ready to fish. While it was a tough day of fishing for most, there were still several nice stringers weighed by NFGFC members.

1st Place was won by the team of Ashley "Warrior" Mock, Junior Dice, and Matt Howell. This talented trio weighed in 5 trout at 9.59 lbs and won $215 for their efforts. Congrats guys!

2nd place was awarded to the team of Bud "Sir Reel" Halbert and Mike Yelvington. Their five fish weighed in at 9.23 lbs and won them $130. They also won the $25 Custom Detailing 2nd Big Trout worth $25.

3rd place was won by the team of Casey Cook, Pat Irwin and Brandon Faris. Team Blind Hog weighed in five trout tipping the scales to 8.92 lbs which won them $90.

Huey Collins caught a nice 25", 4.21 lb trout that won him big trout honors for the July tournament. Big trout paid out a cool $150. Congrats to Never Too Late and Reel Bad.

The big redfish was caught by Big Trout (or red) Bobby Ryan. Bobby's red was the perfect tournament red coming in a shade under 27" and weighing 7.66 lbs. Congrats to SeaSpot and Bobby for winning $200 for the big redfish.

The Kevin's big flounder pot was won by Brad Castleberry and Rick Bushatz who caught a 1.31 lb flounder which won them a $50 Kevin's gift certificate.

The Badcock and More Mystery rolled as no tournament angler weighed in a legal kingfish. The pot will be worth $300 next month as the targeted species will be BLACK DRUM.

It was a great tournament - the largest turnout for a July tournament in club history - and I hope to see y'all at our next tournament on August 8 at Jerry's Bait and Tackle. Registration will be from 5:30 - 6 a.m.

I appreciate the praise, but I've had soo much fun being the tournament director that I'm ready for another challenge. Heath Sanders / Jay Evans for Tournament Director in 2010...they'll bring Hope and Change to the position.

Does that mean you're testing the waters for Prez next year?

Taylor, Vickers and perhaps Cook. That sounds like a fine lineage.

As to not derail this thread any further, great job to all who participated    Anybody know where we can get a pair of them "Sir Reel Slacks?" They seem to bring good luck :smt005 :smt009

That fashion statement along with fishing JT's holes made all the difference  :-D

I was out yesterday taking my Mother to the doc but I'll try to post today with some pictures if work leaves me alone. A special thanks to Custom Detailing for sponsoring the 2nd Biggest Trout money. Just over 23" and my personal best so far.
