Wilderness Systems Expands Angling Fleet With Commander 120

Easley, S.C. (July 20, 2009) – Kayak fishing just received an infusion of comfort with the Wilderness Systems Commander 120, a kayak/canoe hybrid that pushes the category to a whole new level. Combining the agility and superb paddling experience of a kayak, with the stability, capacity and comfort of a canoe, the Commander 120 is loaded with design features to enhance any angler’s day on the water.

What sets the Commander 120 apart from the competition? The features.
• All new, dual seating system combines a “Captain’s Seat” perch for a higher perspective above the water and the cockpit “Freedom Elite Seating” (FES) system for the ultimate adjustability.
• The FES is so cool it deserves more explanation. The breathable and ergonomically padded seat adjusts fore and aft in the boat. A leg lifter and oversized backrest offer full-body comfort. The FES folds and stows under the Captain’s Seat when not in use; and the entire chair is easily removed to be used as a beach chair when you’re done on the water.
• Side and thwart padding act as an extended thigh pad and makes for quiet paddle storage, a cooler exterior and shoulder-carrying comfort.
• Dual SlideTrax accessory system offers endless opportunities for individualized options, including dashboards, rod holders and covers.
• An integral trolling motor mounting block, adjustable foot pedals, bungee rigging and a stern skid plate come standard.

The Wilderness Systems Commander 120 is available with or without a factory-installed Angler package and with or without a rudder. The Angler package includes: a Scotty rod holder, two flush mount rod holders, an anchor bag and an anchor with a line trolley system that uniquely utilizes a side mounted SlideTrax rail. This trolley system allows the paddler to manipulate the boat at anchoring, for the optimum fishing angle.

Consistent to all versions of the Commander 120 is the wide, pontoon style hull that allows for sight casting, fly casting and poling. And consistent to all kayaks in the Wilderness Systems line, the paddling experience is superlative. A paddler can expect a dry ride, even in light winds or choppy inland waterways.

LIMITED EDITION

Easley, S.C. (July 20, 2009) – Confluence Watersports introduced four, industry-changing “concept” boats for the 2009 season. The mantra for developing the line was, “complement the ultimate in function with the ultimate in style.” With that mandate, Confluence is yet again seeing how far they can take boat design, materials and luxury in the pursuit of a seaworthy craft. Introducing the Commander 120cx Limited Edition, the Wilderness Systems concept boat for spring 2010.

For those who desire that their style does not come at the expense of substance, Wilderness Systems proudly offers the new Commander 120cx Limited Edition, based on the same hull and deck design of the brand new Commander 120 fishing kayak. The comfort is unparalleled. The form is pure function. And the materials were, up until now, unheard of in a kayak.

The multi-layered hull of the Commander 120cx Limited is the first kayak ever to be infused with Innegra S, the lightest, high performance fiber available. This ballistic grade material is used in the most demanding of applications, from body armor to Formula One racecars; and now it finds a home on the water. This translates into an extremely stiff and lightweight hull, which offers maximum responsiveness on the water.

To achieve the style mandate, nearly every detail of the production model Commander 120 has been overhauled with premium trim materials. On the canvas of the glossy, black composite layup, picture richly stained, hardwood rails along the top rim of the boat, complemented by stained, hardwood carry candles on the bow and stern. Sleek, silver/gray Commander 120cx logos on the stern and accessory bags announce the boat without being ostentatious.

-more-

The Commander 120cx is engineered with the finest materials, aesthetics and performance. Yet, we maintain that the key element to this boat is intuition. You’ll find it in the details that give the boat 360-degree comfort and the unlimited rigging options offered with the SlideTrax accessory system. It’s in the dual-seating system that accommodates real activities and real movement of a day spent fishing on the water, then lying about the fish you caught back on land.

The Commander 120cx arrives fully featured, with all of the accessories and outfitting needed to hit the water immediately, from customized bow and stern storage covers to a complete Angler package, with rod holders and an anchor trolley.

Only 25 Commander 120cx Limited Edition kayaks will be available worldwide. Each will be handcrafted and individually numbered.
