ICAST Products

Post by jsuber »

ICAST was a blast and I got to meet a lot of folks that I had seen on TV like Guy Harvey, Bill Dance, Ish Monroe, Norm Issacs, Mike Iconelli, Kevin Van Dam, Rick Murphy, Dave Ferrell, George Poveromo, Roland Martin, and NFL Hall of Famer Jackie Smith.

There were tons of items of interest like the Diawa Coastal Zillion Reel,

and the three new Rapala Subwalks and three new Skitterwalks.

But the thing I like the most was a product called the Stick Jacket.

Its a nylon made like a chinese handcuff that fits over your rod. It protects your eyes from getting tangled up with each other. I know I have Power Pro that gets caught on the eyes of the other rods when I bundle them together. Its an in-expensive solution to a troublesome problem. They come in several colors too. You can see them online at: http://www.stickjacket.com/NewWebsite/Home.php

The Stradics do look cool, just wish they had a 3000 or the T handle.
Those jackets have been around for a few years.

I've got some of that same material that is used for the rod sock but it is used to go over the control cables on my boat. I believe it is called snake skin wire loom or something like that. Think I paid about .50-.70/foot. for the extra I have. Looks like a good use for it.

Yea the stick jackets have been around a while, but it was the first time I seen them. The Stradic was pretty light at 7 oz and works just as good as the other Stradics. I think we will see more of the CI4 material in bigger reels in the future.

Thanks for the pics and info. I can't see the picture of the Rapalas.

Does that Zillionaire come in a LH model?

Did you happen to see the new penn spinning reels that have a screw you can loosen and flip open the back of the reel for cleaning all the gears. I saw one at the Baypoint Billfish tourney this weekend. Pretty cool idea, but I am still not a penn fan.

I don't think it was the same reels then, the guy told me these were going to sell at the $150-$200 range.
