RIP PFC Vincent USMC

Post by BayGator »

I had the pleasure of meeting Pfc. Wayne Vincent a few months ago with his father just before he was shipping out to Afghanistan. He was very excited about going to help his fellow Marines and fighting for his country. He was killed in Helmand province July 25, 2009 from injuries sustained in support of combat operations. He had only been in country for 8 weeks. Thank you for your service and sacrifice Pfc. Vincent and God bless your family in this time of loss. salute3 salute3 salute3

I've started to reply 4 times now and I just can't make it work. The same ole stuff doesn't fit this feeling of loss. I don't mean to be critical of other responses, but there just aren't any icons that convey what I feel. Having spent 4 years active myself and being the father of 3 boys who have already been in harms way I just don't have the words this morning. God be with the family and Bless America one more time.

Sir Reel, agree with absolutely each and every word you wrote.

Semper fidelis, PFC Vincent. You have my word your sacrifice will not soon be forgotten.

"The Fallen"
Written by: Andrea Senter

They never thought when they left here
their families they’d see no more
No one dares to think about
The high price of such a war

If you asked them why they did it
They’d say because it was right
Someone has to stand up sometimes
And someone has to fight.

A world away they defend our cause,
as we tuck our kids in bed.
Some give all for all of us,
And somewhere tears will be shed

They do not ask for fame or fortune
Just that we recognize
We are all here, free, today,
Because the fallen have paid the price.

The ultimate sacrifice for love of God and county. Rest in Peace PFC Vincent USMC.

Letter by Abraham Lincoln written to Lydia Bixby:

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

A. Lincoln

June 11,2009 the body of Sargeant John C Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia.

The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough , Georgia . A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time.

Nowadays one can be led to believe that America no longer respects honor and no longer honors sacrifice outside the military. Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia remains one of those graceful places.

The link below is a short travelogue of that day's remarkable and painful journey. But only watch this if you wish to have some of your faith in people restored.
