pole power
It would be great to find a cheap alternative to power pole for my small boat.
Re: pole power
This looks pretty clever:

Anybody got any info on them? Of course if you have a 21' Pole it's gonna whip around like crazy while underway, but if you bought his 8' stick with it, you could eliminate that problem. You have a push pole (for pushing off banks/bars/etc) and a stake out anchor system.

Re: pole power
Good suggestions! The holdmypole double bracket looks good to both store and guide the push pole plus I already have a push pole. But I am going to start by looking at a skinnywater anchoring system from the outfit down on Woodville Highway.

Have you got a secret anchoring alternative to the afore mentioned?TSchoen wrote:PM Sent

I did not want to sound like an advertisement, so far skinny water's product seems to be pretty good.rocket wrote:Have you got a secret anchoring alternative to the afore mentioned?TSchoen wrote:PM Sent

Do tell, I'm interested to know how well it works. Looks like that hollow aluminum pole would bend/snap.TSchoen wrote:I did not want to sound like an advertisement, so far skinny water's product seems to be pretty good.rocket wrote:Have you got a secret anchoring alternative to the afore mentioned?TSchoen wrote:PM Sent

I would think less holes than a power pole though.Chill-N-Grill wrote:More holes in the transom.

Re: pole power
For the money, the Skinny Water push poles are hard to beat. I'm testing one now and it works as advertised. It doesn't flex too much and it bent in a gentle arch when I staked it off in soft mud in a decent current (St. Marks River). The pole floats and stays cool to the touch. Granted, they are heavier than the high-end graphite poles, but at a fraction of the price. The one I'm using has a prototype A-foot; the design has since been refined. They also make some other handy accessories like a powder-coated measuring board, gig heads and several versions of the stake-out anchors as mentioned already.

Re: pole power
I thought it would pretty flimsy as well, until the owner handed me the 20' push pole (which is the same material) and said give it all you got. That being said there is a disclaimer on the website about using the pole in strong currents. I figured for the money it was worth a try and I'd rather give my money to somebody local anyways.rocket wrote:Do tell, I'm interested to know how well it works.
