Rainy day grinding away at the vice

Post by Chalk »

Bored - twisted a few up for some field trails

Standard Borski Butterfly

Materials Used
Hook: Mustad 34007 size 2 - hook eye bent 45 degrees
Thread: Flat waxed nylon - color dependent
Tail: Select Craft fur - color your choice
Body: .020 leaded laid even with barb point on shank and laid on top of hook shaft to 2/3 the eye and doubled back to where you started.
Add dubbing over lead and wrap
Collar: Strung neck hackle or schlappen feathers - color your choice
Weed Guard: 30-pound mono - optional

Tan w/ crystal body

Brown w/ orange dubbing body

Electric butterfly - used chenille for the dubbing

Electric butterfly - used chenille for the dubbing and schlappen - was going for more of a hermit crab look

Easy Sculpin - looking for something to mimic a oysterfish
Black on Black with some silver chenille

Chartreuse on green with a splash of marabou

Recipe can be found here - I used a dubbing loop and craft fur vice the EP brush....I actually made a thin dubbing loop of craft fur and palmered it across the chenille to fill in the body to get that tapered minnow look and then filled the head. I added lead under the chenille for weight and used a 34011 Mustad long shank hook.
