Grouper trip

Post by reelcatch »

Well I went out Sunday from the St Marks Lighthouse looking for some grouper. My sister came down from Michigan and I wanted to show her some Florida fishing. We got a late start for a lot of different reasons and finally left the ramp at noon. Got out to about 20 feet of water and started trolling our way out deeper. Hooked up to one short and thought it was gonna be a great day. Trolled for the next three hours with nothing hitting. We decided to go back to where we had the first strike and hooked up to a very nice gag grouper. We kept trolling for a about another hour and caught one more that was just legal. Trolled back toward the light house and called it a day. Great conditions fish in the box and back safely. All in all a great day.

Sounds like you showed the sister a good time. Congrats

You did better than we did. We went Saturday in and around 20-30 feet of water. Lots of short grouper but no keepers. Hopefully they'll start moving in soon. Congratulations on a couple of keepers!

Still too much bait around, i marked some small wads of them near some numbers, and saw jacks chasing them to the surface. I'm hearing a few folks catching some, hit and miss.

Left that part out. This was my 17 Pro Line and it is at the shop now getting fixed. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a Mercury!!!
