Sounds like what OBOCARE is al about....Doc will probably say.....well, this month you may fall into the quota of
2% mental therapy 1 visit @ 10 minutes or .25% castration and a 6 month supply of Viagra or 86%....sorry!
But Doc, that's not 100%. I know son but the rest are administrative %s. And by the way, you've just used
your allowed "complaint" privileges for the next 10 years!
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Do your part for the economy and buy another one.

I would vote to go new.

With the technology changing so fast and the cost of a technician even looking at your existing unit, plus the cost of units declining.

If you buy a new unit similar to the one you have it probably want cost any more than a repair.

I guess i was kind of vague about it, but its a Garmin 498 that they no longer make. The only thing wrong with it is the display. The screen is jumping around so I thing a wire is loose inside the unit. I wanted to see if I could salvage it before helping the economy by buying a new one.

I would call Garmin customer service and explain your problem. Sometimes they can lead you in the right direction and or sometimes they have refurbished units.

The last time I called (about 6 months ago) Garmin had a flat $99 repair cost. Get an RMA and return it. If they can't fix it, somehow folks seem to get a new one.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
