Bushhooking 12/5/09

Post by One Keeper »

Loaded up and went to the river Saturday afternoon bout 4:00 to try some early season bushhooking and since the river was on the rise I figured we could at least catch a mess for the grease. Went out tied all my hooks in the best looking spots around sandbars, willow trees and current breaks. Arrived back at the landing about dark to meet up with Trouttrent and build a fire to thaw out  . Waited bout a hour and made the first run and it was on   , just about every hook had a fish mostly channels in the 2-5lb range. Made about 2 more passes before heading home. Ended up with around 50 for the night that ended at about 11:30pm. Got up Sunday morning about daylight to go retrieve my lines and landed 15 more. Not to bad for this time of year in the river as I've always had better luck in the lake.

Good catch.
I guess my phone must have been off the hook. It didn't ring.

Bush hooking in the new river north of Carrabelle is great for cats and soft shell turtles.
