Eye of Mexico?

Post by Carlabear »

I was talking to a fisherman waiting at Deals last weekend in Perry and he said that this had been a good year for grouper fishing at the eye of mexico. Has anyone heard of this area out of steinhatchie or Keaton. Im sure it is too far to run out of Econfina but would like any info avail. Thanks Carlabear :smt006

JT nailed it. That was one place some friends and I used to spearfish many years ago. As I recall, which may be incorrect; it has been a while since I've been on the bottom there, it is mostly exposed flat rock with a few scattered ledges and many, many large mussels growing on it.

NOW FELLAS, Y'ALL STAY OUT OF MY GROUPA HOLE, THAT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY, I TAUGHT THOSE GROUPA NOT TO BITE ANYTHING BUT MY HOME MADE JIGS. 40 YRS. AGO THAT IS THE ONLY PLACE I WOULD GO GROUPA FISHING, MAINLY BECAUSE WE COULD LOAD THE BOAT WITH GROUPA'S USING A JIG I USE TO MAKE, AND DO IT IN ABOUT 2 HRS.

This message finally solved a mystery... just had this nagging feeling for some time that JT51's claim on the entirety of the big bend as his fishing spot didn't ring true, but couldn't say why... now I KNOW why. Because they were legitimately PA's spots FIRST!!!

Sort of makes you wonder if JT51 is Pa's illegitimate son and because PA could not claim him he is leaving his fishing holes to JT51 to make up for the life he could not give him. This could explain a lot of things.

Since I derailed the thread, let me put it back on the tracks...

Yes, JT51, Carlabear is your true blood mother... now, be kind to your Mom and post the GPS numbers for her like a good son should. :smt045 :smt058
