Late12/08/2009 Carrabelle fishing report

Post by carramar »

On mid bay lumps at daylight. Nothing except one dink white trout. As the dink had a bigger brother shadowing it I made up a 2 jig head rig and put it on a heavier rig, 15lb mono as opposed to the 8lb I normally fish. On the second cast something with shoulders grabs ahold. :smt041 After about 30 seconds I recognize the battle from a 16lb redfish that I caught a couple of weeks ago. :smt026 At least I might have a photo for the wall! I get a couple of chance for visual confirmation. Yep big big red! after another couple of runs it comes unbuttoned. :smt011 Get the rig back to the boat and discover that the hooks on both jigheads are now 90 degrees. Big difference in stress on tackle with 15lb test. after 4 or 5 unsuccessful difts I leave for Ballast Cove to try to fid a ballast pile with white trout or seabass on it. :smt066 After fishing 6 to 8 shows finally find a definite rock pile in 16 ft of water. Pick up 2 legal seabass and one minature shorty before the bite quits. As it is drizzling rain and the grass flats I run back to the river to try to locate enough for the frying pan. Fished all my spots up to the bridge with NOOOOOOOO takers. Very frustrating day on the water. I guess next Tuesday I'll try soaking some live shrimp in the river. Any siggestions would be welcome.

Bruce I think we just have to much fresh water right now. The fish that were staging to go up into the creeks and rivers are scattered all over the bay now. But that is just what I think>
