Ochlockonee Bay 12-16

Post by roadtrip »

Grasscarp and I hit the bay Monday. We fished the bars and the bridge. The fog was almost unbearable with visibility at 100 feet. Water temp showed 57? The short trout were plentiful but keepers and reds were not. The sheephead are a blast!

Excellent post. I need to start taking more pictures of you when we fish.
Ok for the rest of you on the forum, what is the easiest way to clean a sheephead. that is like cutting open a steel trap!

Nice job, guys. I was out in the soup at Lanark.

What were you using for bait? Looked like a jar of Gulp in one shot? Did the sheepies eat those? As far as cleaning, I use a serrated knife to get through the scales and skin and then work carefully around the rib cage with a regular filet knife. Not everyone cares for sheepshead, but I've always thought they were pretty tasty.

that gulp jar is an illusion. We caught the sheephead on shrimp under corks. Then we have found an exude space guppy fluke is really good on trout and reds.
