PSJ 12/29 Cold
I am not a very experienced winter fisherman, but I gave it a shot today because I was so burnt out on chasing deer. On the water at 11:30 and ran to the first spot in a decent chop. Saw a bunch of reds, and extremely large trout right away. The problem was they were hanging in the 3 to 3.5 foot range and were very lethargic. I couldn't see them until they were 30 feet away at the furthest, due to the stained water and breeze. Some of the reds were basically laying on top of each other, I guess to keep warm. No love from spot A. I tried these fish and several other spots, at which I saw nothing, then returned to the area later, once it had warmed up to 50 degrees. Some of the fish had moved in shallower, visually giving me opportunities outside of just dangling the fly in their face. Landed one, 31", largest on fly, then yanked it away from another slob donkey. Had an absolute blast, no one else in Tallahassee was crazy enough to go with me in the cold. Those giant trout must use the force, gone before I could start my cast.

Great job on the reds. I went out in the kayak at Wakulla Beach with high hopes. The wind was very light and there was a break in the clouds that made it feel almost hot on the water. Unfortunately, I never saw a single fish. I even trolled all over the place and never even saw bait move. Plenty of exercise but no fish. Maybe next time.
