I thought you might all appreciate an out of area report to get you through the lull. I had the opportunity to do a little inshore fishing with my nephew and my son in Charlston, SC the beginning of the week. My nephew is trying to establish a guide business (http://charlestonshallows.com/public_html/about_us.html), so I try to get up there as often as I can so he can practice on me. He’s strictly a skinny water skiff guy.

It was windier than we had hoped for, and plenty cold, but overall it was a good trip. Monday (28th) we picked up around 15, all in the 7-12# range. Tuesday we added another 25, all in the 7 to 13# range. It's quite impressive the number of redfish they have in the area.

We fished primarily with plastics, blurps, gulps, and SWA's, on flutter hooks and jig heads. The fish were surprisingly active despite the cold water and conditions. My nephew is also an amateur photographer, so his angles tend to be a bit funky.

Thanks for the report, ddb. I does take a little of the edge off.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

I lived in Charleston the last 4 years I was in the Air Force. It is indeed a good town. Best assignment I ever had. Fishing is great too. I learned to striper fish there. :D

ddb, sounds like you had a heck of a trip. What area were you fishing? I've fished the Charleston area a few times. Lots of beautiful skinny water, and a heck of a fishery.
What was I supposed to do today?

We've primarily fished the area near the inter-coastal just off of Isle of Palms. It's a great area, lots of oyster bars.
