Dead Fish

Post by Flint River Pirate »

A good friend of mine went to Econfina on Saturday and said there were dead fish everywhere! It seems odd to me that the cold would affect them this way. I always assumed the wouldgo up in rivers and be fine. Was it the cold or something different that killed those fish?

I seen reports of dead snook and mullet around Crystal River. I guess with all of the freshwater, there is no place to go.

A buddy of mine was down there the other day and picked up about 150 mullet in the river. Some were still alive and sucking air at the surface. He didn't see any other dead fish such as trout or reds though  Most of the mullet were between 10"-13" so I guess the bigger ones faired alright.
