A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
A couple of you have read about this kayak and have asked to see it so I got it out of the barn Sunday to do a little work on her and show you what a power kayak really is. enjoy
Then comes registration, fuel, engine maintenance, battery charging(if electric start), and everything else associated with owning a boat. Might as well buy a boat. Probably cheaper in the long run. The joy of kayak fishing is the simplicity and solitude. No noise, no engine maintenance, no registration fees, no charging batteries. Just paddle and fish. Hose it off when you get home and put it away for the next trip.
Well Nathan this thing is 1in short of 16ft so no lights and its 1.5hp so no fl #s and its pull start. Ive owned it for 2 years and there has never been any maintenance other than changing the oil. Most of the time I use the motor when ive paddled to far or get a nasty head wind. I love to paddle and have done some pretty long trips but you just cant beat cranking up and running in after fishing all day
It does matter if its 1/100 hp, if its a motor, you register it and put numbers on the side and to do that you have to prove you paid taxes on it and then .....

Who cares! Dude! That is a way-cool torpedo you got there.
Are you kidding? Non-powered does not have a motor.
A kayak and canoe can be paddled.
This kayak above is different because it has a motor.
And anything that floats, and has a motor, whether electric or fuel driven, has to have a registration.
I'm not knocking it, everyone has their thing. I'm just pointing out the downside to it and saying it's not my thing. Yes it does need to be registered and titled. If you use it before sunrise or after dark you need navigation lights also. All you need for a kayak is a wearable life jacket, whistle, and flashlight if used at night. For the price of one of those jet powered kayaks you can get a gheenoe and put a little outboard on it. Just my .02
