Two Bank Battery Charger Installation Question

Post by BullHound »

Working in Savannah this week and stopped by the BPS. Picked up a two-bank on board battery charger for my 24v Riptide trolling motor. Now, how do I install this thing? (Of course I thought I would seek the wisdom of the forum before I referred to the instruction manual) I have my two batteries running in a series. That means the negative of battery one is connected to the positive of battery two. The guy at BPS told me to just hook the two banks to the two batteries and leave them wired the way they are. Will this work? I really want to do this right the first time because I have to move the cooler/seat each time I crawl under the console to access the trolling batteries.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is a 24V charger, then you connect the positive to one battery and the negative to the other battery. That is it. No other instruction is needed. If it is a 12V charger then you have more problems than I have time to address right now.

The one I bought was the XPS I series 5/5. It says on the box it is for 12v and 24v systems.

Then just hook it up positive and negative to each battery and you will be fine.

That's the way mine is connected. Do see the problem with it. Two bank=two battery. Should have two red/two blacks. Hook em up and plug em in.
