NFGFC March Tournament presented by Kevin's 3/6/10 Results

Post by caseycook »

We had a club record for our March tournament - 37 boats showed up to Jerry's Bait and Tackle ready to fish. The high winds and cold temperatures over the last week made it a tough day to fish, but nice stringers were still weighed and great stories were still told at the weigh-in.

Mike Flowers, fishing solo, picked up the victory. Mike said he had one of his best days ever on the water and weighed in 5 trout at 13.21 lbs and won $395 for his efforts. His 3.81 lb big trout also won the Custom Detailing 2nd place big trout worth an additional $25. Congrats Mike!

2nd place was awarded to the team of Ashley "Warrior" Mock, Junior Dice and Matt Howell. The Perry boys weighed in five trout tipping the scales to 12.97 lbs which won them $240.

3rd place was won by the team of Michael Aman and Chad Frost. These new NFGFC members made their presence known right away by catching 5 trout at 11.31 lbs. Their stringer was good enough for 3rd place and $155.

Gary Droze won the big trout side pot with a 4.57 lb gator trout winning him $230.

The big redfish was caught by Robbie "Bow'd Up" Bearden. Robbie'’s red was a shade over 26" and weighed 6.38 lbs. Congrats to Robbie and partner, Matthew "Reel Cowboy" Jacobs, for winning the redfish side pot and $450.

The Kevin's big flounder pot rolled as nobody weighed in a legal Flounder. Next month, whoever weighs in the heaviest legal flounder will win a $100 Kevin's gift certificate.

The Badcock and More Mystery fish rolled as nobody weighed in a legal pompano. Next month whoever weighs in the heaviest mystery fish (species tbd) will win $200 courtesy of Jay Evans and Badcock and More.

The first tournament of the year was a success. I hope everyone takes the time to thank the presenting sponsor, Kevin's Guns and Sporting Goods for sponsoring the tournament. We paid out 10 places today meaning everyone who weighed a trout won something. We wouldn't been able to do it without the generous donation made my Kevin's. We also raffled off a $400 rod / reel combo and an entry in the RedTrout shootout because nobody finished in 14th place. Please thank Lynn at Kevin's the next time you stop in there for his support of the club. I hope everyone can join us for our next tournament on April 3rd at the Keaton Beach Marina (also sponsored by Keaton Beach Marina). More details will follow soon...

Current leader for the Matthew's Fishin Stix big trout of the year: Gary Droze - 4.57 lb trout.
Current leader for the Matthew's Fishin Stix big redfish of the year: Robbie Bearden - 6.38 lb redfish.

Congratulation's to Mike Flowers on an excellent job for catching a fine stringer of first place fish and to Gary for the big trout, also Robbie and Matthew on the big red. Congrats Mike, that was a dang fine stringer.
Everybody that caught fish sure put on a clinic.
Robbie's redfish was real dang nice.

Another well run tournament by Casey and Pat. It was a tough day on the water but the weigh in and raffle was top notch.

Thank you Kevin's for the awesome donations. And thanks to the rest of our sponsors for the cool raffle prizes.

Cold but a beautiful day on the water.

Very little to know movement on the water. We saw one red, looked to be of slot size. It rolled right under the boat off the bar we were next to and could never find it again.

As for fishing JT's holes... never again, there aren't any fish!!!
