Last year on March 12th and 13th we were soaking up the sun at Econfina and were successful at find a limit of trout both days. On the 12th we caught some really nice fish in the creek mouths between Econfina and Aucilla. The next day on the 13th we got into a mess of trout in 4-5 foot of water - 1 mile SE of Aucilla mouth.
This year I was fired up about getting out there the first day of March. Me and a fishing buddy went down Sunday afternoon so we could hit it at the crack of day. We fished hard all day and managed five fish. All were caught late in the day at the peak of high tide in creek mouths. He was using a rattlin' redfin(gold) and i was throwing a weightless gulp shrimp fished Slooooow. It was a cold day and very few people caught fish.
The following weekend my wife and two children could join me for a long weekend because they all had Monday the 8th off from school and work. We struck out at noon on Friday in order to get an afternoon start on the fishing. We were able to get on the water Friday afternoon and headed to a creek mouth that had produced in the past. I hooked up pretty quick with a 23" trout. I was throwing a Rapala twitch bait Chrome in color. My wife wanted to catch her first redfish and her dream finally came true when she hooked a 26.5" beautiful red. She was throwing a gulp shrimp on an 1/8 oz. jighead in nuclear chicken color.
