How to fish Hickory Mound Improvement Area?

I'll be out there this weekend in a Gheenoe. Are there any trout or reds in these backwaters?

lots of abandoned crab traps in the area as well so be careful

Good, maybe I can pick up some pointers from them while I'm out there. It looks like the tournament area goes from Steinhatchee to Port St. Joe, so there should be plenty of room for everyone.

fishing is normally good over there but not lately due to all the rain and wind making the water real dark right now.
